Calla Lilies

There are many beautiful flowers and plants that cover the earth. Few are as majestic and glorious as Calla lilies. Calla lilies are a pristine white flower that grows up strong and looks as if it’s an unrolling scroll with treasures untold inside. Because of the bold white color it is often the chosen plant for weddings and funerals. But now with the knowledge of hybrid plants, Calla lilies may come in a variety of colors that could suit any occasion. I myself received Calla lilies for the birth of one of my children and they were perfect for the occasion!

Like any beautiful plant your Calla lily needs good care. Calla lily care isn’t much different than any other plant. It needs, good soil, water, and sunlight. A Calla lily does, however, need rest. You can keep a Carla lily growing year round, but it will mean a great sacrifice to your Calla lilies. A Calla lily needs a rest long enough to dry out and dwindle down. This provides an opportunity for the bulb to gain size and when the rest is over, it will give you a chance to move you Calla lily to a new pot more easily than if it where heavy with water.

Nothing brings a plant enthusiast more pleasure than bringing plants from seed to full growth. Calla lilies can be grown from bulbs or seeds. So do you want to know how to grow calla lilies starting from a seed? Start with a seed! Calla lily seeds can be sticky but aren’t very difficult to plant and grow. Place the seed a few inches apart and place them under enough soil to protect them from mid day sun. Once the plant have sprouted two or three leaves you can re-space them or plant them in pots. Once they have grown enough into young plants you follow the same protocol you would with a full grown plant.
